OPAC - Sierra (Collection Level)

  1. Function > Create Lists
    • Inventory lists must be created first for type of collection materials. If inventory already exists, re-run search for new records.
    1. Identify and select empty slot for inventory creation.
    2. Select "Search Records" button. Boolean search screen options.
      1. For Photographs: Type = Bibiographic; Field = Location; Condition = equal to; Value = Image Archive
      2. For Rare Books: Type = Bibiographic; Field = Mat. Type; Condition = equal to; Value = Rare Books
      3. For Oral Histories: Type = Bibiographic; Field = Location; Condition = equal to; Value = Oral Histories
    3. Name inventory list and run search.
  2. Function > Data Exchange
    1. Select Process > Output MARC records to another system using FTS (out)
    2. Click "Create" icon, name output file, and select "Review" dropdown to then select inventory list. Click "Start" button to execute command and then exit out of screen.
    3. Select output file and click "Put PC" icon to download file.
  3. Open MarcEdit.
    • Use MarcEdit > MARC Tools to convert .out file into readable MARC text file if necessary.
    1. Tools > Export Tab Delimited Records
      1. Step 1: Set File Paths. Select previously exported .out file as input location. Name output file with .csv extension. Select field delimiters.
      2. Step 2: Define Fields/Subfields to Export. Add each field and subfield as needed for a comma-separated value. Refer to MARC mappings if needed.
      • For Photographs: 099 $a; 100 $a $d $e; 110 $a $d $e; 245 $a; 336 $a; 541 $a $c $d; 506 $a; 550 $a; 554 $a; 600 $a; 650 $a $v; 700 $a $d $e; 710 $a $d $e
