Browser support policy

For the digital collections app, at the moment we have decided our browser support policy is we support:

  • Chrome (including Android)

  • Firefox

  • Safari (mobile and desktop)

  • Edge

(but not Internet explorer).

And we support most recent version and old versions going back one year from current date.

Resources

  • Science History Institute has a free (for non-profit/open source) account on http://browserstack.com that can be used to test multiple browsers.

  • The Can I use... Support tables for HTML5, CSS3, etc site is helpful. Note the “Date Relative” option when looking at a specific feature, that will let you see if a given feature is included in a year-old browser release, not just the most recent.
